25 cosplays in 2017. Not shown: 5 commissions, 4 WIPS. Here’s to 2018!
My pictures from Winter Comiket 2017! The urge to cosplay was hella strong after seeing everyone. I’m gonna try to be more active this year, so hopefully you’ll see more posts in the future!
My Toru Hagakure cosplay is finished! (ര̀ᴗര́)و ̑̑
We were in Australia and got to shoot FFXV around Coffs Harbour! The scenery everywhere was breathtaking but of course we ended up doing stuff like this. Lots more to come! (I have a little Australia trip vlog with some behind-the-scenes stuff!)

The World Cosplay Summit is a series of events that take place over a week, culminating in the stage competition that determines the winning team. There are two stage events. The first stage is all the competing countries performing their skits, followed by a concert and the winners of minor prizes. The next day is the second stage, where only the top countries compete. This is also followed by a concert and then they announce the winners. The other events are photoshoot parties and hangouts for people to dress up in cosplay, some events are ticketed and others are not.
Visiting the WCS was only one part of our vacation, so I decided to only attend two events: The World Cosplay Summit first stage and the OSU cosplay parade. This post will detail those events.
Just wanted to add from my experience at cosplay or doujinshi events, there are almost never mirrors, chairs or dividers unless it’s a big event that has set up a “premium changing room” (of course limited and extra cost) Always bring a mirror with you and remember you will be changing in front of other people so anything you can put on beforehand is helpful (such as tights or even your makeup)
Ok, I have to share this. This weekend we had the very first TOKYO Comic Con; Jeremy came Stan Lee came, among other great guests and there are amazing photos shared on twitter (unfortunately I couldn’t go). And I want to share some photos I found on twitter.
There was a very nice Tony Stark on that day.
I think he looks quite good (best I ever seen among Japanese cosplayers), and you can see a Spidey looking at Tony behind already. Of course how Spidey can resist Tony Stark.
No he just can’t.
It’s Mr. Stark!
But the thing is he’s not the only one.
You can see other Spideys behind, looking at them with envy. And well, there were lots of Spideys that day. Hi everyone!
And there is only one Tony Stark, they had to share him.
Ok guys, calm down, he’s not going anyware,
Behave yourself!!
This was so funny I wanted to share here.
The gif I made in rush, other than that all photos are original ones I found on twitter, original links here>>
That IS a great Tony Stark! And this is hilarious.
Here’s further awesome proof that cosplay is for everyone! Brazilian cosplayer Solange, aka Tia sol (“Aunty Sun”) has won the heart of the internet with her wonderfully accurate homemade costumes and convention appearances around her home city of Manaus, Brazil.
“A friend said that I wouldn’t have the guts,” Solange told BuzzFeed News. “I chose a character and had the costume made without saying another word.”
“I don’t miss a single event in my city. I’d really like to visit other ones, but have you seen the price of the fares?”
“I never thought that I would be well received among the young people, I’ve made a lot of friends during all of this.” Cosplay conventions have become a sort of a haven for Solange: “I can launch myself into the world of make-believe, where anything goes.” Her next event is coming up in December. “I’m finishing up the painting on my new cosplay, Granny Juju from Jorel’s Brother.”
Follow Tia Sol on Facebook to keep up with her latest cosplay creations.
